The Coast Guard Auxiliary is the civilian volunteer element of the U.S. Coast Guard team. The purpose of the Auxiliary is to promote boating safety through public education, courtesy marine examinations of vessels, and on the water operations to assist boaters in distress.
Flotilla 89 in Rotonda carries out these Auxiliary missions under the direction of Auxiliary Division and District officers,----- Flotilla 89 -- Division 8 - 7th Coast Guard District, Chartered 20 August, 1973. We are actively involved in the following cornerstone missions:
Vessel Examinations - Free Courtesy Marine Exams are offered throughout the year. Call 941-828-3626
Operations - On the water safety patrols are conducted on weekends during the year. Assistance is given to boaters in distress. Search and rescue operations are conducted as needed in cooperation with the Coast Guard and local marine law enforcement agencies.
Fellowship - We carry out the missions and operation of the Flotilla. Scheduled and impromptu social events, dinners/barbeques take place frequently.
Flotilla 89 has been serving the area for over 34 years. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month at the Rotonda West Community Center building at 3754 Cape Haze Dr. Rotonda West, Fl..
